Marvel has just dropped the teaser trailer for Thor: Ragnarok, starring Chris Hemsworth as the god of thunder alongside a new intriguing Cate Blanchett’s character, Hela, the first Marvel Cinematic Universe’s major female villain.
This time, though, fans will have to be prepared to see Thor without his hammer and flowing golden locks, as he’s been imprisoned on the other side of the universe by a powerful new threat named Hela a.k.a Goddess of Death, a goth chic villain capable of crushing Thor’s hammer with only one hand.
Unleashed from prison, she takes over Thor’s homeland where the gods usually reside. The movie sees Hela plotting to destroy Thor’s homeworld and see the end of Asgardian civilisation, as well as rallying an army for the cause.
Thor is then banished to the alien planet of Sakaar, in which he is forced to fight as an intergalactic gladiator. Guess who is his opponent? Fellow Avenger The Hulk, of course. However, even though the two used to be allies, it looks like all friendly feeling has been lost, as Thor gets charged by his new enemy in a fight to the death.
We’ve got a female villain, the grandmaster himself, a fantastic new aesthetic thanks to director Taika Waititi, and although there is no sign of Sif, there’s a new warrior woman at Thor’s side: Valkyrie. The film will also see the return of Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange, Anthony Hopkins playing Odin, and Tom Hiddleston as Loki.
Thor: Ragnarok hits theaters on 3rd November 2017.Watch the full trailer above.
