We can’t say this is much of a surprise, given the huge success and massive following of the hit series, Game of Thrones.
Last night, the fantasy drama picked up three awards at the 68th annual Emmy Awards, and immediately became the prime time TV show with the most number of Emmys ever. Game of Thrones now has a total of 38 Emmy awards, just one more than Frasier, the previous record holder. The series also has a whopping 110 Emmy nominations to its name!
The three awards that Game of Thrones bagged that night were Best Writing in a Drama Series, Best Directing in a Drama Series, and Best Drama. Game of Thrones also picked up nine Emmys at the Creative Arts ceremony last weekend, surpassing long-time title holders Hill Street Blues and The West Wing.
American sketch comedy and variety show Saturday Night Live holds the record for most Emmys for a TV series with 45 awards. But Game of Thrones might catch up to that, since it has only aired for six seasons and has more to come!
