During Ramadan, it is vital for fasting Muslims to stay healthy and consume nutritious meals for sahur and iftar. So if you’re searching for new, healthy meals with which to break your fast, look no further than Darlings Honey, a distributor of quality stingless itama bee honey, which provides an alternative to sweet, sugary beverages.

Whenever honey is consumed just after a meal, it smoothly glides down the food pipe, filling its walls with natural living enzymes and nutrients that provide a slew of health advantages. According to a study, stingless bee honey possesses anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, anti-diabetic, and antioxidant properties.

Honey for sahur is also a wonderful way to keep one’s fast going, considering the natural sugars in honey would offer energy throughout the day. When compared to other forms of sugar or glucose-rich carbohydrates, stingless itama bee honey can help keep blood sugar levels stable.

Stingless bee honey is also an excellent immune booster and might aid digestion during this period of fasting. Darlings Honey is a great way to start the day after a night’s sleep, even if you aren’t fasting. Additionally, when cooking Raya treats, stingless itama bee honey is a fantastic substitute for sugar.

For your favourite Raya dishes, consider substituting Darlings Honey for sugar.

Recipes to try

1. Always Bee My Baby (non-Alcoholic Honey Mocktail)

Fresh sage leaves add a wonderful herby undertone to this zesty and citrusy honey mocktail, which is sweetened with honey and enhanced with mandarin and lemon juice. It’s a light and refreshing drink that’s perfect for any time of day.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of water
  • 3/4 cup honey
  • 4 Sage leaves
  • 1 cup juice of a Mandarin or Tangerine
  • 1 Tbsp juice of a lemon
  • 2 Tbsps Agave syrup

Method:

1. In a medium-high-heat pot, bring water to a boil. Once the water has come to a boil, add the sage leaves and honey. Boil for an additional 2-3 minutes. Then remove the pan from the heat and cover the mixture for 5 minutes to steep.
2. Next, blend the fresh mandarins or tangerines with the lemon juice in a dish. Gently smash the fruit with a muddler or fork until it is completely broken down. Stir in the agave nectar until everything is well mixed.
3. Remove the leaves from the honey syrup once the sage has steeped. Fill a pitcher halfway with the infused honey syrup.
4. Fill glasses halfway with ice cubes to serve your mocktails. Fill each glass halfway with the honey-sage syrup. Then pour 1/3 of the citrus mixture into the glass. Finally, garnish with mandarin or tangerine segments and fresh sage leaves.

2. Berry Bee-utiful (non-Alcoholic Honey Mocktail)

This berry-licious honey mocktail is a lovely ombré non-alcoholic drink made with fresh berries and pomegranates to give it a natural rose tint. It’s the ideal classy cocktail to add some zing to your iftar!

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups strawberries (stems removed + sliced)
  • 1 cup pomegranate arils
  • 1 Tbsp juice of a lemon
  • 2 Tbsps Agave syrup
  • Ginger Ale

Method:

1. Mix the fresh strawberries and lemon juice in a mixing bowl, crushing everything until the strawberries are completely broken down. Whisk in the Agave syrup until everything is well incorporated.
2. Fill a glass halfway with crushed ice and 2-3 tablespoons pomegranate arils, then top with 2 tablespoons mulled strawberry-lemon mixture and ginger ale. Sliced strawberries, pomegranate arils, and mint leaves can be added as a garnish.

Durian flavour!

Darlings Honey has also released a limited-edition Ramadan flavour – Malaysia’s first Musang King Durian-infused stingless bee honey. The harvested honey is 100% natural, raw, and organic. It is unprocessed and unadulterated, with no additions, artificial colouring, flavouring, sweeteners, or preservatives – directly from the forest to your bottle.
