Another day, another TikTok beauty trend!
If you’re a fan of all things manga and anime, like myself, then you’d know how gorgeous their aesthetics are, especially with character design. What I particularly like are the characters’ eyes and how beautiful and expressive they are. For someone who is “blessed” with short lashes, looking at the lashes of these characters can burst some envious bubbles in me. Despite wearing fake lashes, it’s really hard to try and achieve the desired manga lashes – but TikTok says otherwise!
A new TikTok beauty trend has emerged demonstrating how to achieve manga lashes just by using your falsies! But before we dive into how to do it, let’s get to know more about manga lashes and how they look. So, manga lashes essentially look like a cluster of pointy lashes that are spaced out in wispy-like sections, both on the top and bottom. Some might not like the appearance, as they look a bit like spider legs on your eyes, but if done properly, your eyes will simply look more doe-like.
One beauty creator on TikTok, Sarah Cheung, decided to test the manga lashes out after she had seen it on Chinese social media app, Xiaohongshu – and so far, it has garnered a lot of attention and love within the beauty community.

So wispy, and they widen your eyes perfectly! Sarah Cheung started by coating both the top and bottom lashes with mascara. Then, she took a piece of fake lashes and cut it up into sections and arranged them by length. With only a dollop of glue on the band, she started to place each of the individual pieces as close to her eyelashes as possible.
Sarah Cheung mentioned that doing this does take “a bit of a learning curve”, but nothing that good ol’ practice can’t solve. Also, the beauty creator shared two key elements to make your eyes more manga-like: to “make sure that the lashes are longer than your natural lashes” and to “space [the lashes] apart enough so that they have that spidery, spikey look”.
For the bottom lashes, there are two ways you can do it:
- Apply them, spaced apart, to make your eyes more doll-like or,
- Use tweezers and pinch your bottom lashes together for that same effect.
