Your friend raves about this amazing dude and wants to hook you up with him.
You’ll want to have his babies I swear, she raves.
Then why aren’t you with him, you ask.
I’m attached, remember. You’re not.
Ouch.
So she sets up a blind date for you with this dream guy on Friday night and for the rest of the week you’re filled with fantasies of a handsome stud and a white horse riding of into the sunset but 10 minutes into your date and you realize you’d be better off running for the hills instead.
It’s part of our culture to be polite and to respect the feelings of others but when things turn out to be an episode of Disaster Date, it might be wise to do the both of you a favour and end it mutually like adults, but how? Here are some outrageous tips that you can try out depending how bad your date is turning out to be.
The Toilet Epidemic
Oh we’ve all heard of the infamous “Excuse me, I need to use the bathroom” line where you exit and never return. To be honest, it’s a pretty mean trick that will probably send your date’s self esteem all the way down to the earth’s core. Instead, mess up your hair a little, splash a little water on yourself and return to the table and tell him you threw up a little and you’re not feeling too well. If he doesn’t offer to walk you to your car, then at least you won’t feel too bad about your little white lie.
Sabotage It
I can practically count the number of guys who love chatty women on one hand. I don’t mean the friendly, bubbly type but the kind that cuts into every sentence and tells stories that would make Socrates roll in his grave. Be that woman. Make your home sound criminal friendly or talk about your dream wedding and exaggerate while you’re at it, that should send him scooting for the door.
Keep It Public
Never invite your date for dinner at your place or his if you’re meeting each other for the first time. It’ll be pretty awkward midway if the both of you decide you’re not each other’s cup of tea.
Hit on The Waiter
Poor dude but using the waiter as your scapegoat might just do the trick. After all, the only distraction we want during a date is ourselves.
Honesty is The Best Policy
You’re both adults. If he can’t deal with the fact that a girl doesn’t fancy him that much, then he probably will be difficult to handle in the maturity department. Explain to him at the end of the date that he’s a nice chap but you don’t see things working out between the both of you.
What’s the worse date you’ve been on and what measures did you take to make it more bearable or did you just flip and walked out? Share with us and you’ll be doing the rest of us girls a huge favour! After all there are only so many calls that we can fake during dinner.
