Nashville, otherwise known as Music City, filled with history and soul, provides a strong influence and inspiration for the upcoming Fall 2014 GUESS collection. The first theme begins in Nashville, the center of music, where country meets rock n’ roll. The Show is filled with bold, sexy and iconic GUESS influences, while On the Road represents the authenticity and denim heritage of the GUESS label.
The denim collection introduces an extra low‐rise mini boot leg and a performance curve style. Flared and skinny styles in high‐waist silhouettes will continue to be a staple in the collection, along with shorts, shortalls, overalls and jumpsuits. For men, a classic cowboy style jean with a button fly in a loose fit and a slim, mini boot cut are key denim styles this fall. Classic denim vests and jackets for men and women are updated to a more cocooned shape, while shirt jackets and boyfriend blazers will also be highlights.
The inspiration for denim washes and treatments come from the authentic roots of the brand. The collection features key denim silhouettes, jackets and overall styles in a series of blue washes. New coated styles and premium finishes such as gangster coated denim are introduced earlier in the season. Destroyed and used denim are seen later in the season in both comfort and true blue washes, with a strong focus on super soft, pajama style denim. The cowboy denim shirt is introduced as the seasonal must have for both him and her, offered in comfort versions of chambray, mixed prints and embellished with cowboy tips on the collars.
The fall collection also highlights various non‐denim styles including the five‐pocket pant in shammy, moleskin, corduroy, waxed twill and original GUESS sweaters in cotton cable knit. Activewear plays a strong role in the collection with pleated hoodies and jogging pants, complete with clean giant graphics for him and lace and leather detailing for her. For him, there is a complete selection of basic and bold graphic tees to complete the look, while for her, there is a vast array of lingerie style tops, tap pants, corsets and ditsy floral printed dresses that contrast perfectly with more rugged denim looks.
Early in the season, the color palette is dominated by distinctive tones of oxblood and rhubarb reds intertwined with old west blues and browns, including camel, khaki, cognac and brandy. Pops of turquoise, sweet lavender and Cadillac pink offer a selection of feminine tones for women. By mid‐season, the palette turns to matte blacks which are contrasted by brilliant whites and pops of metallics in chrome silver and gold. To close out the season, On the Road inspires true blue denim tones, winter whites and softer dusty shades of camel and mushroom with pops of deep blue, bright yellow and aubergine.
