Just the other day we shared a study’s results showing that sex aids in the growth of brain cells, and now we have another good news: it can also make you more resistant to colds.
Two psychologists from Wilkes University, Pennsylvania, Carl Charnetski and Francis Brennan, collected data on 111 undergraduate students (44 male students, 67 female students), which included the length of their relationships, sex life satisfaction, and immune system measurement. The professors also put in information on the frequencies of sexual encounters, which were rated as infrequent (less than once a week), once or twice a week as frequent, and very frequent being more than three times a week.
The results showed that those who made love once or twice a week have developed a better immune system. Tests of their saliva contained higher concentrations of Immunoglobulin A (IgA), which is one of the five major antibodies.
However, having sex more frequently won’t give you an even better immune system. Those who made love less than once a week, as well as those who had sex more than twice a week both have lower levels of IgA.
According to Professor Charnetski: “We found concentrations of IgA to be approximately one-third higher in the frequent group as compared to all other categories, including the very frequent group.
So, grab your man and enjoy a private time behind closed doors, it’ll not only make both of you smile, but it’ll also help lengthen your lifespan!
