First dates are nerve-wrecking, and if the guy is a total stranger, it’s almost impossible to know what he likes or doesn’t like in a girl. However, we’ve managed to talk to guys and we’ve gathered the five common things that turn them off on a first date. Take note of our guidelines below so you can snag yourself a second date!
1. Wearing too much make-up
Men always like women to look good and presentable, however this doesn’t mean that you should put inches of make-up on your face! Remember, less is always more and looking natural has its perks too, especially when it comes to still being recognizable when you take off your make-up.
2. Displaying past baggage
Men don’t like to hear about your broken relationships in the past unless they asked you about it. If you’re babbling non-stop about how you feel in regards to your past relationships or how much you’re still hurting and trying to get over it, then you’re just chasing the new guy away on! Also, if you’re still lingering over your ex-boyfriend, you shouldn’t even be in the dating game in the first place..
3. Showing that alcohol is your best buddy
Alcohol can get anyone to loosen up but it is important to know your limits: i.e. you should stop way before being incoherent. Getting drunk on the first date is a huge turn-off for an adult man – it just shows your immaturity and irresponsibility. Act like a lady and he’ll ask you out on a second date (and after that, you guys can do shots together).
4. Getting down and dirty after dinner
If you’re too quick to get him in bed on the first date, he might think you’re just another one night stand and nothing more. You wouldn’t want to look desperate and leave the impression of promiscuity! If you really feel that there’s a spark between the two of you, give him a passionate kiss.
5. Being a bimbo
There are men out there who can’t take opinionated women because they feel like they always have to be ‘in control’ in the relationship and like their women to be submissive and clueless. If you’re attracted to these kind of guys, hey, go ahead. We believe though, that the good and confident guys like to have a proper conversation with intelligent women.
