Red Army Watches Malaysia and XALF have joined forces to give back to the community during Breast Cancer Awareness Month with an annual campaign to increase awareness of the disease.
In light of this, Red Army Watches Malaysia has donated 15 percent of the sale of Plain Elegance by Basilika, a German watch brand – that retails for RM1660 – to the Breast Cancer Welfare Association Malaysia (BCWAM). The Plain Elegance is a lovely hand-winding model that is delicately inspired by the movement s of a ballerina replete with pink leather strap.
The Plain Elegance is a lovely hand-winding model that is delicately inspired by the movement s of a ballerina replete with pink leather strap. “I love this watch,” says Julianna Chai, Managing Director of Red Army Watches Malaysia. “It’s simple, yet sophisticated. And designed in the traditional style of Poljot International, I like to believe that it embodies the sensibilities of Red Army Watches as well as the championing of modern women as survivors in spite of the obstacles faced by us.”
XALF were also asked to design a bespoke shoe, the Pink lady, to reflect their take on the campaign. The creative duo behind XALF, Xavier Mah and Alfred Hor wanted a passionate and vibrant silver satin pointy pump, so they used striking pink suede ribbon as the side ribbing and added Swarovski crystals to finish the classy look. The result was a sensual combination of delicate hints with strong womanly touches.
Alfred expressed the inspiration behind the design of the Pink lady: “Our design was inspired by modern feminism that is a celebration of life where absolutely anything is possible.”
Each purchase will receive a certificate of appreciation which will be issued jointly by RAW and XALF and certified by Breast Cancer Welfare Association Malaysia.
“Breast cancer can be distressing, sending one into despair and depression,” says Tammy Walker, Vice President of Breast Cancer Welfare Association Malaysia. “We are all aware that when a woman has breast cancer, her life turns into a roller coaster ride – physically, emotionally and socially. The Breast Cancer Welfare Association Malaysia (BCWA) provides emotional, psychosocial and material support to women diagnosed with breast cancer. These support services help women to cope with breast cancer.”
“Early Detection and Early Treatment Save Lives”, as such, women are encouraged to do their monthly breast self examination (BSE) to be familiar with their breasts to recognize abnormal changes in their breasts and also to go for annual clinical breast examination and mammogram.”
The Pink lady will retail at RM1050, where 15% of the sale will be donated to the BCWAM. The Pink lady can be viewed at all Red Army Watches Malaysia Retailers.
