For those of you that think yoga is strictly for hippies and vegetarians, you better think again. You can say “downward dog” without giggling like a little child ya’ know. It’s been shown time and time again, the health benefits – both physical and mental – of yoga. Besides making you super flexible and allows for a better posture, yoga can do so much more.

Time and time again, the physical and mental health benefits of yoga have been shown to go beyond giving you better posture and the ability to touch your toes. Yoga gives you something deeper and more innate than those.

What exactly? Here are some of the insane benefits practicing yoga can do to you:

Sex life improved – It doesn’t just improve your life but also your sex life. How so? Doing yoga regularly increases sexual arousal. It also helps with promoting blood flow.

Helps you take control – Practicing yoga lets you have physical and mental control of your body like you’ve never had before. This of course will lead to a more happy and healthy life.

Depression, be gone! – It’s been proven that doing yoga regularly can eliminate depression if a person is going through it. This is due to the fact that while practicing yoga, the body produces more gamma-aminobutyric acid, which is a natural chemical that’s produced in the brain to help us relax.

Forget about useless diets – Practicing yoga doesn’t mean you will be burning more calories than going to the gym, although it does help you tone your body up immensely. By practicing a more holistic lifestyle, you will be more mindful of what you stuff down your throat and how much.

It can help with asthma – Believe it or not, after 10 weeks of doing regular yoga, people with asthma saw a 43 percent improvement in their systems. The deep breathing and focusing on every inhale and exhale will promote a healthier lung.
