As a TV show connoisseur, I’m always looking for new and intriguing shows to binge on. Though I am a fan of drama and mystery, I do find myself enjoying the romantic subplots in them, especially the moment when two characters finally get together and uh, get it on. I mean, who watches Titanic for the sinking ship? We’re here for Kate Winslet and Kate Winslet only. After going through my TV show watch list, here is my ranking for the steamiest sex scenes on TV shows!
10. You
I- I can explain! Is Joe Goldberg a creep and a serial killer? YES. But you can’t deny that some of the sex scenes between Joe and Love are among the best. Ignoring the cringe-worthy ‘I wolf you’ scene, the chemistry between them is just amazing. Sometimes it’s just fun to watch two people who are equally psychotic bang it out with each other!
9. Shameless USA
Many of the sex scenes in the US version of ‘Shameless’ are undoubtedly very redundant. Like, boobs are great, but I don’t need to see them in every episode! Despite the many unnecessary sex scenes that are borderline gross, there are some good ones in there that actually contribute to the plot, particularly the ones between the main character Fiona Gallagher and her love interest, Jimmy! Not to mention the variety of locations in which they performed in! (Uhm, the kitchen floor)
8. The Great
When the show is about Catherine The Great, there is bound to be some steamy sex scenes. The steamy scenes between Catherine and Leo are particularly, very pleasing to watch, even more so than the scenes she has with her husband Peter III of Russia! There’s just something hot about doing something you shouldn’t, which in this case is actor Sebastian de Souza, I mean- Leo.
7. Westworld
I may be a little bit biased, but the best sex scenes in this mind-bending science fiction show are the ones that feature my favourite character, Maeve. Most notably, the ones she has with her lover, Hector! Both of the characters are very complex and have a compelling story ark, which is what makes this underrated couple so iconic!
6. Black Mirror, Striking Vipers
To give some context for the episode, best friends Danny and Karl start hanging out in an immersive VR game called ‘Striking Vipers’ and soon find out that they enjoy having sex with each other in the game as their characters, Roxette (Karl), and Lance (Danny). Yeah, this one’s kinda weird, but SO HOT. All thanks to Pom Klementieff and Ludi Lin’s striking performance.
5. Game Of Thrones
Best known for its complex storylines and frequent use of nudity, Game Of Thrones certainly needs its own ranking when it comes to the steamiest sex scenes. In my opinion, the best one happens in the tragic love story between Robb Stark and Talisa Stark. After the build up in season 2, the characters finally get together in the middle of a war zone!
4. Gossip Girl
It’s safe to say that when teenage me saw the sex scenes between Chuck Bass and Blair Waldorf, particularly the one where it takes place on a grand piano – like many others, something awakened inside of me. While the sex scenes on Gossip Girl are the least explicit out of all the shows here, it’s ranked higher cause of the build up and anticipation, which is crucial for an impactful sex scene.
3. Bridgerton
If you enjoy watching royal drama featuring some hot people, this is the show for you. The sex scene that stands out the most is when the newly wed main characters went back to their grand estate and proceeded to get it on all over the manor, even in the library!
2. Grey’s Anatomy
It’s no surprise that the long-running medical drama that features a bunch of horny doctors that love to have sex in the on-call rooms has some steamy sex scenes. One in particular that I thoroughly enjoyed was the one between Dr. Jackson Avery and Dr. April Kepner, which surprisingly did not take place in the on-call room (it was in a bathroom stall). Again, this ranks high on my list not just because of Jesse William’s (aka, Dr. Jackson Avery) abs, but also because of the build up between the two characters throughout the season!
1. Orange Is The New Black
This show takes place in a women’s prison, and it features a ton of hot AF sex sequences. But out of all the girl-on-girl action, the shower scene between Soso and Poussey deserves to be at the top of the list! Regarded as one of the fan favourite couples on the show, the chemistry between Soso and Poussey is unmatched!
