Hair conditioner plays an important role in your haircare routine, but there times where we move on to a new bottle and abandon the remainder in our old bottle. You don’t have to bin it immediately because there are so many things you can do with leftover conditioner. From quick beauty fixes to little tricks to make life easier, here are ten things you can do with your leftover conditioner.
1. Shaving cream
When you’re out of shaving cream or ointment, simply use a dollop of conditioner and spread it on your legs. This will give it a closer shave and its moisturizes your skin at the same time. It also captures the shaved strands of hair so it won’t cause much of a mess during your shower.
2. Lingerie detergent
Forget buying those expensive lingerie detergents that cost so much for so little. Your conditioner has enough cleansing properties to keep your bras, knickers and nighties clean, without damaging the fabric. It also keeps it soft and smelling fresh. Fill a bucket up with warm water and mix in a dollop of conditioner. Use your hand to stir it up a little. Make sure the water is a little warm to help eliminate bacteria in your lingerie, and then let your unmentionables soak for a few hours.
3. A do-it-yourself body scrub
If you’re out of essential oils and need to exfoliate your legs, simply mix your conditioner with a few tablespoons of coarse brown sugar, squeeze in some lemon juice and mix well. The conditioner will act as a moisturizer on your skin, so when you scrub, it’ll leave your skin feeling soft and smelling yummy too.
4. Zipper lubricant
If your handbag’s zipper has trouble zipping up, rub a little conditioner on it and use a cloth to apply it around. This should help you zip up your bag with ease. Apply whenever your feel the zipper starts to get a little difficult to zip up.
5. Cuticle softener
Need to groom your nails? If you’ve ran out of your trusty cuticle treatment oil, just massage a tiny bit of conditioner into your cuticle. Leave it on for five minutes and then rinse it off.
6. Sticky band-aid peeler
If you have a band-aid on your skin that just won’t budge, rub a little hair conditioner onto the spot where the band-aid and skin meet. Leave it in for a few minutes and you can remove the band-aid with ease.
7. Cracked-heel treatment cream
Do you often suffer from dry and cracked-heel? Just massage a small amount of conditioner on affected areas, and put on a pair of socks to your skin absorb the moisture in the conditioner. Leave it overnight and when you wake up in the morning, you’ll find that your skin feels much softer than it was before.
8. Do-it-yourself leave-in conditioner
Make your own spray-on leave-in conditioner by adding in a tablespoon of conditioner in a spray bottle. Then pour in a few tablespoons of warm water, and add in a few drops of lemon juice and essential oil for scent. This is a good recipe to keep your hair shiny and moisturized when you’re on the go.
9. Make-up remover
Put your face first. If you’ve ran out of make-up remover, just massage some conditioner on your skin and use a piece of cotton to wipe off the make-up. Rinse your skin warm water to remove the leftover oils on your skin.
10. Shoe polish
Do your patent pumps and leather goods look like they need a good polish? Just grab a piece of clean cloth, lather on some conditioner and rub it in to give it a little shine and protect the leather from salt and chemicals.
