To be honest, this is definitely something we didn’t expect from a car advertisement. But, Ford Motor India just did and it’s highly offensive to most of the women here.
According to Huffingtonpost, Ford Motors India has recently apologized for their new ad campaign that shows 3 different versions of scantily-clad, voluptuous women gagged, bound and stuffed in the trunk of the car maker’s Figo model. The ad campaign causes uproar due to its depiction on women as powerless objects.
One week after the ad campaign, The Wall Street Journal reported that the advertising firm ‘deeply regrets the publishing of posters that were distasteful and contrary to the standards of professionalism and decency within WPP Group.’ Ford has alsdo expressed regret over the publication of the ads and agreed with their agency partners that this incident will not repeat again.
It is a shame for the advertising firm to allow it to be published at the first place. What do you think?
