The holidays is never complete without some festive treats, and we’re mostly excited about what’s being served to fill up our hungry bellies. But just because it’s the holiday season, it doesn’t mean that you have to ditch your healthy-eating habit. So, to avoid over-indulging and binging a little too much, we’ve got a few tips for you that will give you the chance of indulging in your favorite dishes, without going overboard!

1. Plan time for exercise.

Exercise can give you some relief from the holiday stress and prevent from gaining weight. If you don’t have time to make it to the gym, take a 10 to 15 minute brisk walk daily.

2. Don’t Gobble

Holiday parties will most likely have an exquisite buffet spread, but remember that you’re not the only guest. Try a small portion of everything, and before you can even think about a second round, you’ll notice that you’re already satisfied.

3. Bring Your Own

There will always be sinful things to eat at a holiday gathering, and you’re always welcomed to bring something for everyone to share. Make it a healthy dish, and you and all guests can indulge in something nutritious.

4. Don’t Go on An Empty Stomach

Arriving at a party with a growling tummy is not a good tip to eat right at a holiday gathering – you’ll stuff your plate with a lot more than you require, you’ll make wrong choices and you’ll over eat. Have a smart snack prior to the party, so even if you are a little hungry, you won’t overdo it.

5. Load-up on Fiber

Vegetables are naturally low in fat, calories and they’re bursting full of nutrients, so they will keep you feeling more satisfied that other foods.

6. Don’t Over-indulge in Desserts

The holiday season is never complete without a platter of sweet sugary delights, but remember that indulging in too much sweet foods tend to leave feeling sick and bloated. So, be wise when you pick your foods, especially desserts, and incorporate some exercise in your daily routine.

7. Plan and Prepare

If you have a schedule with a list of parties you’ll be attending, compensate with some healthy eating days prior to the event, or in between. This helps you manage your diet carefully to help you stay on the right track for a healthier holiday diet.

8. Serve Healthy Snacks

If you’re hosting a party, you can always serve healthier snack options on top of the sinful serves. You’ll be surprised how excited people may attend to the healthier serves, which somehow encourages everyone else to take part in it.

9. Refuse Politely

If you’re already stuffed and people insist you eat or offers you more food and drink, you can simply refuse with a polite “No, thank you”. No one can bully you into eating whenever or whatever you don’t want.

10. Stop When You’re Satisfied

You don’t always have to finish whatever you have on your plate. So, as soon as you begin to feel satisfied with your meal, but still have leftovers, simply stop and if it’s appropriate, let someone else have it.
