Signs Your Rocky Ship Is Still Worth Saving!

Relationships can be tricky. You can feel like you’re on top of the world one day and then feel like you’re going through everything alone the next. It’s normal to have ups and downs in a relationship, yet somedays, it might get so bad that you even start to question whether your relationship is still worth saving. But, before I get into that, let me start by saying that arguments in a relationship are completely normal! Some arguments can even be beneficial to the relationship, since you can learn from your mistakes and grow from them. However, fights can turn into endless rounds of blaming and arguments that many couples don’t know how to get out of.

This leads to the question of whether you should stay and save the relationship, or run for the hills. But of course, not all relationships are worth your time, especially if they’re toxic, abusive, or dangerous. If that’s the case, leave ASAP! But if you feel that your relationship is still pretty solid, and it just needs some repairs, this one’s for you.

The thought of them moving on sounds terrible

If you’ve ever ended a relationship, you probably know the feeling of shutting the door on your relationship and never looking back. However, if the thought of them leaving, or them moving on to someone new makes you sick to your stomach, that might just be an indication that you’re not ready to let go just yet. When you feel torn on whether you should stay for the relationship, that means there are still reasons for you to work on it. Start by remembering what got you into the relationship in the first place!

You can be vulnerable around each other

Finding someone that you can be vulnerable with is hard, so if you find yourself still being able to open up and share your flaws, your deepest secrets and your past to them, the relationship might still be salvageable. They know your ins and outs, they see all your imperfections, and they love you still – isn’t that worth something?

You share the same core values

No matter how much you think your person is the perfect one for you, I hate to break it to you, but you are never going to agree on everything. Even the most similar people have their differences. However, what matters is whether your core values align. So, if both of you still share common ground on the more important things in life, it can be a good place to start to rebuild your relationship.

There is still trust between you

The most important thing in a relationship, to me at least, is trust. If both of you still have trust in each other, that’s a pretty solid foundation. It holds A LOT of worth in any relationship and it’s definitely a good reason to try and work things out.

Both of you are willing to work on the relationship

As the saying goes, relationships are a two-way street, and both individuals have to put effort into the relationship in order for it to function. So if the both of you are still committed to fighting for your relationship, even when things get super tough, you know it’s something worth saving. However, it is also important to acknowledge the differences that are too great to overcome, so make sure to be honest about those too.

You don’t let fights escalate

One good sign in a relationship is when you know when to press “pause” on fights. When you’ve been with someone for a long period of time, you probably know all the things that you could say to break each other down, but you don’t. No matter how nasty the arguments get, you hold on to the most hurtful things that will actually break the relationship. That means that despite everything, you still have mutual love and respect, and that might be something worth holding on to.
