Another one bites the dust..
Penang-based F&B corporation Texchem Resources Bhd has announced that Dim Sum Delight Sdn Bhd, the operator for Hong Kong-born dim sum chain Tim Ho Wan restaurants within Malaysia, has ceased operations.
The two Michelin-star restaurants are reportedly shut due to a lack of profit, and for the financial year ending December 31, 2016, Tim Ho Wan had recorded a loss of a whopping RM895,642.
Texchem also added that the situation “is not expected to change anytime soon” for Tim Ho Wan in Malaysia, with two restaurants – one in Mid Valley Megamall, and the other in 1 Utama Shopping Mall.
The shocking closure of Tim Ho Wan adds to the increasingly long list of businesses that have shut down in Malaysia thus far for 2017, including Korean bakery Tous les Jour and K-beauty label Nature Republic.
