Whether it’s sleeping on a water bed or having a unicorn-themed bedroom, we’ve all fantasized about getting our own dream bedroom. But, as we grow older, sometimes all we want is a cozy bedroom where we can unwind and spend some much-needed alone time! And what better place to relax than in a clutter-free, minimalist room? But to some, when you think of the term ‘minimalist’, you might associate it with empty and boring rooms, which is understandable. Today, we’re gonna show you how you can create the perfect minimalist and aesthetically-pleasing room of your dreams!
Indoor Plants
When you’re going for a minimalistic room, it can look empty and bland. So, add some colour and life to your room by putting some healthy green foliage around the corners. It’s a great addition to create a relaxing space, since plants are scientifically proven to reduce our mental fatigue. Indoor plants such as the Snake Plant and Pothos are also known to be easy to take care of – just remember to water them from time to time!
Keep it Neutral
The best way to keep your room from looking too messy or too crowded is by sticking to neutral colours. Because you want your room to look warm, avoid bright or cool-toned colours if you’re going for a minimalistic look. This can be accomplished by selecting furniture with a wood-like finish and keeping your sheets a light colour.
Mirrors
Mirrors are great for small rooms, since they give the illusion of a larger space. This is because they reflect the majority of the light that falls on them back into the room. So, remember to place your mirror in a location where it can reflect light, making the room appear brighter and larger. You can create a space for you to admire your outfits AND take the perfect mirror selfie!
Art Prints
Though your room is minimalistic, the art you choose to put on your wall doesn’t have to be. It is a great way to express your personality and individuality. So, leave a space on the wall above your bed, adjacent to your mirror, for a beautiful art print. But you can also go for some minimalistic art prints to complement your room.
Lighting
Yes, this might seem obvious, but your choice of lighting greatly affects the overall feel of your room. Depending on your taste, you can either go for some fairy lights that’ll give a soft, warm glow to your room, or a lamp with a simple design – or even just a hanging lightbulb (we can’t get more stripped down than that)!
Happy decorating!
