Sadly, we’re losing yet another one of the many available clothing brands we have here in Malaysia and this time, it’s Gap. The American clothing retailer first announced that it would be shutting down its Queensbay Mall, Penang and Pavilion KL stores in January, and now, Gap has gone on to say that it will be closing its stores in Gardens Mall and 1 Utama as well.
All of its remaining stores are now having massive sales to get rid of the last available batch of stock, and though we’re saddened to hear about its closure, the clearance comes just in time before Chinese New Year. If you’ve been looking to cop any of Gap’s basic wardrobe essentials, the time is now.
According to several reports, many of Gap’s locations worldwide have been “underperforming”, citing Gap’s struggle to compete against fast fashion brands such as Forever 21, H&M and more. Can you blame the shoppers though?
