Google is testing out a brand new feature and it’s pretty damn cool – it allows celebrities and influencers to record video to answer some of the most popular questions about themselves! These videos will show up as search results on Google alongside the algorithmically generated links, and lets us feel closer to these people than ever.
Although the new feature is only rolling out in the U.S. and is mobile-only for the time being, it will eventually be made available on desktop searches and globally. On the celebrities’ side, there is even a dedicated app for them to use the feature by replying via selfie-style video.
The questions get presented to the celebrities inbox-style, and they can even choose which ones to respond to if they wish. Don’t worry, all reply videos that get published will of course go through Google’s screening first and foremost before going live, and Google has already been testing the app with a number of people including Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra.
However, the videos will only appear in search results “when their content best matches a user’s query”, so just typing in “Kylie Jenner” in the search bar won’t get you very far unfortunately. The feature does seem pretty fun, and we can’t wait to try it out!
