A lot of people will say that long distance relationships are impossible. Your family and friends are more likely to discourage it than support you, and fair enough, because they don’t want you to get hurt. With long distance relationships they actually can work, and while it may not be easy, a lot of the times they’re totally worth it.
Sometimes things can get complicated but if you set certain rules and guidelines together as a couple, we’re pretty sure it will work out. We’re not saying there won’t be any bumps along the way but it will definitely make you appreciate the smaller things even more.
Here are some tips to help make your LDR work:
Take it as a lesson to learn
While it’s really hard to be apart from someone you love, think of your LDR as a lesson that will test your love for one another. We’re sure you’re going to live together in the future, so before you can be good at being together forever, you should try being apart. It really strengthens the bond between a couple and make your relationship even stronger.
Don’t communicate too much
Yeah, we’re well aware that you miss each other but you each your own separate lives, so the constant texting and calling may come off annoying to one of you after a while. Just because you don’t talk so much during the day doesn’t mean you love each other any less. Once in the morning before you start your day, and once at night before you go to sleep is more than enough. Of course, if something exciting happens, you should totally text or call.
Do things together
So, after not talking to each other the whole day because you two were busy, set a date on Skype or FaceTime to do something together like watch a movie or having dinner at home. Things like these will really help both of you feel like quality time is being spent, even though you’re apart from each other.
Have phone sex
This is one of the most exciting things about having LDRs. Who says that distance mean you can’t have any fun with your boo? Get creative and believe us, he’ll really enjoy this one.
Try and not get too possessive
It’s easy to freak out over a woman you see standing next to him in a picture that you come across on Facebook or Instagram but don’t turn nothing into something and create fights over petty things like this. Remember that the two of you have your own lives, you should live yours instead of being glued to the computer or your phone to check on him.
