For centuries, cats and dogs have been our closest friends, but we never knew what they’re thinking or trying to tell us.
A Japanese company has recently developed a divide that might just solve that mystery. This small device, when attached to necks of cats and dogs, can analyse more than 40 different kinds of movements and interpret their emotions. That will help owners to tell if their pets are happy, relaxed or annoyed, or even things like do they want to play or be left alone.
App maker Anicall recently showcased his brainchild at the Wearable Expo in Tokyo.
“We have more pets than kids in Japan,” Takuya Fuma, a manager in the company’s development unit, said at the expo. “We see a big market in the pet industry,” he added. “People spend money on pets.”
Anicall’s cool device is different from rivals’ as it can be used on both cats and dogs. Currently, the app and device only work when owners are near their pets with their smartphones, but Fuma said the company hopes to make it possible to monitor their emotions remotely in the future by using another device to send signals over long distances.
An app that can tell us what our pets are thinking, feeling and trying to say? Take our money!
