It was indeed an eventful Sunday yesterday as the international running phenomenon, The Color Run™, presented by CIMB Bank, made its way to Malaysia for the first time ever. The five-kilometre fun run at Padang Merbok, Kuala Lumpur saw over 13,000 runners from all walks of life plastered from head to toe in a vibrant celebration of colors. Billed as the “Happiest 5K on the planet”, I experienced the run for myself and it was awesome!
The first wave was flagged off as early as 7.00am and were doused in a kaleidoscope of colors when the runners took to the track. With every kilometre I accomplished, there were different color stations with volunteers sloshing runners with various colors, namely orange, yellow, purple, blue and pink.
At the finish line, runners were also handed out color packs to be used during the epic Finish Festival. There was good music, a happy crowd of colorful runners, fun-filled games, performances and of course, The Color Throw. With the color packs that were handed out earlier, an explosion of colors were thrown up in the air, creating the most beautiful sight and the good vibes were just infectious!
Founded in 2012, The Color Run™ has splashed out to more than 170 events in over 30 countries in 2013. CIMB first brought The Color Run™ to ASEAN with the Singapore run in 2013 and subsequently held its second edition in Jakarta early this year, attracting nearly 30,000 runners from both cities.
This year’s The Color Run™ Malaysia was brought to you by CIMB Bank and was co-sponsored by New Balance, TNT and Toyota. To keep updated on The Color Run™ Malaysia, visit this website or The Color Run Malaysia Facebook page.
