When you’re hard at work, the last thing you’d want to fuss about is having dry and tired eyes that could very well prevent you from feeling your best. However, you’ll never face a similar problem again with 1 DAY ACUVUE® DEFINE™ with LACREON® daily disposable contact lenses.
Available in three colours, Natural Shine, Accent Style and Vivid Style, these contact lenses feature the Beauty-Wrapped-In-Comfort™ technology that sets colourants between two thin, transparent layers of lens material so that no pigment comes in direct contact with the eyes.
Aside from UV protection, the 1 DAY ACUVUE® DEFINE™ contact lenses also come with LACREON® technology that embeds a moisture-rich wetting agent into the fabric of the lenses to create a moisture cushion that lasts up to 20 hours for all day comfort.
To find out more about these contact lenses, we had a chat with none other than the brand advocate for ACUVUE® DEFINE™ with LACREON®, Jojo Goh, who is a popular Malaysian actress and one of NTV7’s Top 10 Artistes for 2015. Check out our interview with the lovely lady below!
Q: Can you tell us why you love the 1 DAY ACUVUE® DEFINE™ with LACREON® daily disposable contact lenses?
A: The contact lenses really suits my busy lifestyle. I love that it has a internationally recognised UV protection because we do a lot of outdoor shoots. Even if we aren’t outdoors, there are always LED lights that can be too harsh on the eyes, just like sunlight. Your eyes age as well, so you have to take good care of them. I don’t really like wearing shades under the sun because they might ruin my makeup, so I really appreciate the UV protection that comes with the contact lenses.
I like that the contact lenses accentuate my eyes and looks very natural. It has this iris around it so it makes your eyes look sparkly throughout the day, and that’s really good for shoots. It makes me look vibrant and awake throughout the day. On casual days, I ditch the eyeliner and just wear these contact lenses for enhanced eyes. It’s easy, comfortable and convenient for my everyday life.
Q: Why do you prefer daily disposable contact lenses?
A: I think it’s healthier for the eyes. It’s really clean and you wouldn’t have residue left on the lenses, which could irritate your eyes. Ever since I started using daily disposable lenses, I never looked back. It’s troublesome to wash the casing and use the weekly tablets to clean the contact lenses. It’s too much hassle for me. I wear all three shades, depending on different occasions, but it really depends on my mood. If I have to pick one, I’d choose Natural Shine as my favourite shade. They are all very natural though.
Q: What are you busy with at the moment?
A: I’ve actually been busy for two years now without a single holiday. That’s crazy and very hectic. I’m actually having a break now as I’m not tied to any big projects that span over a couple of months at the moment. I have time for the gym, catchups with friends and stuff like that. I just did a project with MediaCorp in Singapore. In October, I have a Chinese New Year drama special with eight episodes leading up to a telemovie with the NTV7 Top 10 Artistes. In November, I’m starting a new project that’s going to take up four months of my time. But for now, I’m heading for a short getaway to Indonesia soon.
Q: Tell me about your daily schedule on a very busy day compared to one that’s chilled and relaxed.
A: For normal shoot days, our call time is mostly 5.30am. I wake up early, get prepared, get to the location and get my makeup done. We start shooting at 7am, stop at 11am for lunch, and then continue on until late in the evening. Sometimes, we exceed 14 hours of shooting, but that happens rarely. I usually finish around 7 or 8pm at night, then I use the time I have left to clean myself up, remove my makeup and prepare the script for the next day before I head to bed.
The LACREON® technology that come with the contact lenses really comes in handy because I stay awake for long hours for work. If my eyes are not hydrated enough, it’s really hard for me to act. A good pair of contact lenses really help, especially when there’s a crying scene and you really need to focus. When you don’t blink enough, it actually dries up your eyes even quicker before you manage to produce any tears.
On a relaxed day, I will take two to three hours to slowly get ready and pick the clothes I want to wear. Then, I’ll have a nice brunch and after that I go for tea. I just love eating and I savour food a lot, so on an off day it’s usually a lot of eating. My friends have already given up calling me because I’m always occupied, so I have to ring them up and gather everyone together. Also, I love hitting the gym.
Q: What do you love most about your busy lifestyle?
A: I think that it makes me feel young because I’m always on the move. That’s what I really like about being busy. It makes you feel alive and sometimes, it makes you feel important. We all love feeling important, don’t we? I’m not the type to go on social media and brag about how busy I am. I think we tend to do that but it’s really tiring to keep up.
Q: Do you have any health and fitness tips you’d like to share with us?
A: I just really hit the gym, but I find programs like HIIT or Tabata very good, especially when you’ve got limited time on your hands. For me, those programs feature intensive cardio, plus a little bit of toning and stuff like that. 20 minutes of HIIT or Tabata is really more draining than 3 hours in the gym. If you don’t have enough time for the gym, I suggest that you go for programs that suit you. They may be more effective.
Q: Name us five must haves in your handbag.
A: My wallet , car keys, house keys and a pair of extra contact lenses. I don’t carry much with me and I love changing handbags, so things get left behind. My must haves are really essentials that I can’t live without.
Q: What about some of your favourite makeup and skincare products?
A: Lipsticks, I guess. I really like a few colours from different brands. RiRi Woo by MAC is a blueish red shade and I love that so much. I also like the new Gucci lipsticks, and NARS lipsticks for more natural colours. I like many brands.
My skincare routine defers everyday and it depends on my skin condition. I think the most important for me would be products that give me intense hydration. It really helps my makeup look flawless and stay on longer. If your skin is not hydrated enough, I think a lot of skin problems will be more visible. For me, hydration is number one because my skin is sensitive, especially when I’m stressed or I spend too long under the sun.
I’ve been using Clarins, and recently, NARS skincare as well. I love the Restorative Night Treatment and the scent is nice too. According to the beautician, you can mix that with your moisturiser for extra nourishment. It really seals the moisture in. I really like the Aqua Gel Luminous Mask as well. I put it on for 10 minutes and wipe it off before I put on my makeup. It really wakes me up.
Here’s a pro tip: If your skin isn’t looking its best, mix some sleeping mask with your moisturiser and apply it. Your makeup will stay on like a dream. I like Laneige’s Water Sleeping Mask.
Q: Tell us one thing your fans probably don’t know about you.
A: I talk too much. I can talk non-stop for a few hours. I always have something to say to everyone, even strangers. Whenever I fly alone, I make friends, unless I’m exhausted. Sometimes, I can be too daring. I would hitchhike without thinking twice.
