It was reported that a Canadian woman who has been missing for weeks was found dead and wedged into a water tank at the top of a Los Angeles hotel.
The police are trying to determine whether her death was a result of foul play or an accident. The body of the 21-year-old tourist, Elisa Lam was discovered by a maintenance worker at the 600-room Cecil Hotel, after there were several complaints made by the guest about the water pressure.
Elisa who is originally from Vancouver, British Columbia had traveled to California alone on the 26th of January and was last seen five days later by workers at the hotel near Skid Row in a hotel that offers rooms for $65 a night.
The police called her disappearance suspicious at first, but they are not considering the possibility of foul play because of the location of where the body was found. It was unclear what the water from the tanks were used for, though.
Early yesterday (Thursday, 21st Feb) an autoposy was performed to determine the cause of death – but no word was given from the officials just yet.
There is Hotel surveillance footage that shows Elisa inside an elevator pushing buttons and at one point she was sticking her head out of the doors and looking in both directions. (source)
This Canadian tourist intended to travel to Santa Cruz, about 350 miles away from Los Angeles and according to officials, she had been in touch with her family daily until the time she disappeared.
