We all love to travel. You explore a new culture, new places, new faces, and of course, new traditions. Beauty gurus can teach a few tricks about make-up, but women from around the world have their own beauty customs to maintain flawless skin and lustrous hair. These ladies have kept their secrets to themselves, but today, we uncover all their beauty secrets to share!

Korea
It’s superstition that when a bird poops on you, you’ll have good luck. In Korea, the feces of nightingale birds makes your skin softer and brighter. Nightingale feces contains urea, an ingredients often found in beauty products to lock the moisture in the skin. This beauty secret is also practiced in Japan.

Egypt
If you’ve read books about Cleopatra, you’ve most likely encountered a scene with the queen taking a milk bath. Milk baths are an age old secret for gorgeous, smooth and silky soft skin. You don’t need 10 cartons of fresh milk, though. Simply add 2 cups of powdered milk to your bath water and say goodbye to dry, flaky skin!

Greece
Mediterranean women are blessed with great skin. Mediterranean skin has enough melanin to shield and absorb harmful UV rays, so with all that exposure to sun, they still won’t be plagued by dark spots. But their glowing skin is not only because of the genetics of their skin. In fact, it’s their diet that’s high in fish, fruits and vegetables. With all that omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, and antioxidants and vitamins, of course they’re going to have plump and healthy skin!

Japan
The women of Japan are known for their long, silky hair. But how do they maintain it with all those chemical treatments? Their secret is in nori seaweed. High in iodine that’s essential for hair growth, nori seaweed is high in minerals that not only keep your hair healthy, but strong too. They either eat it on its own, or make a paste out of it and apply it to dry hair. Time to head to the supermarket!

Philippines
Southeast Asian weather can really bring down the lustrousness of your hair. In Philippines, the women keep their hair glossy with fresh aloe vera juice. They just break a piece off the plant, and massage the juice into their scalp.

Italy
The sun in the Italian south gets very hot and strong. To nourish their hair and boost its shine, the Italian women make their own egg-white mask but whipping two eggs into a mousse and then apply it on wet hair for a 10 minutes. They then shampoo, and rinse with warm water.

Australia
Australian Aboriginal women use yarrow root to prevent stretch marks because of its moisturizing and hydrating properties. Furthermore, it’s an anti-inflammatory so it soothes the skin – great for after-sun activities!

France
We’ve never met a  French woman with bad skin! But we’ve discovered the secret! The average French woman sticks to a very specific skin and body care routine. They religiously make sure their skin is clean, fresh and prepped for everything. They also make sure every bit of makeup is removed each night.

China
The Chinese believe in the use of herbs to cure ailments and other health problems. To preserve youthful skin, the Chinese use Reishi mushrooms to keep their skin supple and wrinkle-free as it is high in antioxidant and oxygenates the blood, which helps in the elasticity of the skin.

Dominican Republic
If your nails constantly break as soon as you want it to grow,  Dominican have the answer to your question. Just chop up a fresh clove of garlic, add it to a bottle of clear nail polish and let it set in for a week or so. This not only keeps your nail strong, but the antibacterial properties from the garlic will also make sure that your nails don’t end up with any fungal infections.
