What Eyeshadow Colour Should You Be Wearing?

A little bit of eyeshadow can do a lot to transform a woman’s face from dull to awake. Picking out the right shadow colour for your skin tone is one dilemma on its own, but what about complementing it with your eye colour? A lot of us have trouble finding the right look to complement our looks and even our outfits, but the most important way to choose your eyeshadow colors would be based on the colour of your eyes. Here’s a simple guide to finding the right eyeshadow color based on your eye color.

Brown Eyes
Being the most common eye colour in the world, you have it easiest, brown eyes! Most eyeshadow colours work well with brown eyes, the determining factor of certain shadows suiting you better than others is the depth of your eye colour when they are brown. Dark brown eyes work best with medium to dark shades – think autumn tones like deep plum, greys and forest greens.

For a more statement look, golds and bronzes also look great on dark brown eyes. Medium brown eyes can use the same palette as dark brown eyes but can also go a bit lighter with the tones, using an array of greens and purples as opposed to just the darker shades. If your eyes are light brown, avoiding black eyeliner is a good move as it can tend to look too harsh and therefore won’t compliment your eye colour too well. Natural shadows with a brown liner will suit you better than a harsh black line.

Blue Eyes
NEVER wear blue eyeshadow if you have blue eyes, that is the number one rule. It will wash out your natural colouring, leaving your eyes with what appears to be zero definition. Neutral shades and rosey tones will suit you best. Metallics also work great for blue eyes, drawing all the attention to them, shimmers and glitters should be taken full advantage of if you have blue eyes to get them glistening! It is recommended that you keep the rest of your makeup fairly neutral, i.e. no bold lips as it will distract from the light colour of your eyes.

Green Eyes
A colour that will not seize to amaze when it is on you time and time again is purple. If this sounds too out there for you, Earth tones work well too especially if you can go for ones with a purple undertone. Gold and copper will also highlight your eye colour, bringing out any of the lighter parts of your eye. Avoid cooler toned colours such as blues and silvers, this means avoiding even purples with blue undertones as they will not flatter your natural eye colour. Black eyeliner can tend to appear too harsh on green eyes so try a grey or brown one in stead, to really make your eyes pop try gold!
