Since its beginnings in 1970, Roberto Cavalli has become a name synonymous with the highest echelons of Italian fashion, combining passion, creativity and artisanal craftsmanship. Through Creative Director Fausto Puglisi’s lens, the brand rediscovers its most authentic aesthetic codes — traced back to its rebellious roots in the 1970s through its natural progression to the out-and-out glamour and seduction of the mid-90s and 2000s.
Now, Roberto Cavalli has opened its first flagship store in Malaysia – and the first in Southeast Asia. Located in The Starhill, one of the most luxurious shopping malls in Kuala Lumpur, the new Roberto Cavalli boutique is spread over an area of 142 square meters with a huge semicircular shop window and two green onyx back-window panels. Beginning with the Fall/Winter 2022 collection, both women’s and men’s ready-to-wear will be complemented by a rich accessories range including bags, small leather goods, eyewear, footwear and jewellery.
ROBERTO CAVALLI WOMENSWEAR F/W’22
Fausto Puglisi is bringing sexy back, speaking the language of Cavalli fluently. Sensual, seductive, fierce and free, sharp tailoring is juxtaposed with the iconic wild animal motifs of Roberto Cavalli — a true signature of the brand. Cage dresses are formed by alluring cut-outs assembled and disassembled on the body in a gesture of feminine self-affirmation.
The new definition of house codes shines in the use of tartan by the late Queen Elizabeth II’s maker. Made from mohair in shades of emerald green, black and white, or in combed wool in camel, blush and citrine yellow, the bold checks are seen in everything from outerwear to high-heeled pumps in a warm fusion of elegance and sensuality.
ROBERTO CAVALLI MENSWEAR F/W’22
For the men’s F/W’22 season, Fausto Puglisi reinvented the Roberto Cavalli DNA for an intriguing collection focused on bold and distinctive pieces to mix and match with absolute freedom. The wardrobe is eccentric but rooted in reality. References to a punk/bondage aesthetic are set against dramatic florals and sartorial checks for an eclectic vibe.
Decadent printed flowers on athletic-inspired pieces and silk pajama sets bloom into 3D through hardware applications and lace-up details, giving a signature look to a range of leather styles spanning from Puglisi’s iconic biker jackets to pants with tulle inserts for a sensual see-through effect. Zebra and python patterns are found on jeans and twill and cashmere twin sets, sitting comfortably next to traditional tailoring motifs including an elegant Prince of Wales check, enhancing the sartorial appeal of coats and suits with strong shoulders.
