Whether you’re renting an Airbnb for a party to get sloshed or a sleepover with a bunch of your girlfriends, all is fun and games.. until you have to have the awkward talk about money and breaking up the cost for the rental. Well, Airbnb is now making life a whole lot easier for you!
Airbnb acquired social payments startup Tilt in February this year, and starting very soon, Airbnb users will have the option to split payments with their fellow travellers. The new function, which will be rolling out globally very soon, works for up to 16 travellers at one go, so travelling in a group will now be a breeze.
While the new split payment function is great news for Airbnb users, it’s also beneficial to Airbnb as a company. About 30% of the reservations made with the payment splitting tool also leads to one or more new users registering themselves on Airbnb. Genius, isn’t it?
The payment splitting tool works for reservations that are made at least 10 days in advance, and the stay must be for less than 27 days. Sounds pretty dang good to us! You’ll never have to bug your friends for payments that are waaaaayyyy overdue again. 😉
