Beginning August 1, Malaysians will be banned from smoking in all air-conditioned eateries, public parks and national parks.
The Health Ministry also announced a price increase for cigarettes nationwide. The minimum price for a pack, currently RM7, will increase to RM9 from August 1st.
The smoking ban in national parks will be focused on areas where the public has access to like waterfalls, chalets and recreational spots. Smoking will also be banned inside whole premises.
The Health Ministry adds that they would be working with relevant authorities to enforce the ban.
