It’s hard to avoid moments of depression or sheer sadness. We all succumb to good peaks in life and then they’re the moments where you feel you’re just not good enough in this world. You’re not alone in this matter and it’s only right for us to get you out of that situation. Here are 10 simple ways to get yourself out of that swirl of depression and into a better state of mind!

1. Make a Feel-Good Playlist
When it comes to boosting your mood, the most inexpensive way to do it is by making a playlist fell of your favorite feel-good songs. But what’s even better is a 80s playlist because one cannot simply not dance to a good 80s music playlist. Don’t believe us? Try out our retro music playlist and let us know what you think!

2. Have Some Chocolate

Whatever you’ve heard about chocolate being bad for when you’re depressed – forget it! Indulging is what you desperately need when you’re having a bad day! On top of it raising your blood sugar levels to healthy levels, it also boosts your mood to calm you down. But science aside, you can’t deny that just having chocolate available in front of you is enough to make you happy. 10 Health Benefits of Chocolate

 3. Play With Your Pet

If you have a pet at home, a dog or a litter of kittens, give them some well-deserved attention because they’re always there for you when you need a little pick-me-up. Play fetch with your dog, or grab some knitting thread and entice your cat. You’ll have a good time and before you know it, all your troubles will disappear. If you don’t have one, adopt! 6 Reasons Why You Should Adopt a Pet From a Shelter

4. Spend Some Quality Time With Your Family

There’s nothing better than to bring you back down to earth than to spend time with your family. Despite all the quirks and arguments, it’s still undeniably fun! Plan a movie, or a family dinner and may end up learning something new about yourself.

5. Let It All Out

Whatever that’s causing you to feel depressed, sad or mad at the world, just know that it’s okay to cry. It’s bad to keep all your feelings bottled up because you may just end up going crazy, so whether you need a day in your room to cry or eat the depression away, do it! Let it all out until you’re a new person.

6. Plan a Day Out With Friends

Don’t give your girlfriends a chance to neglect you when you need them the most. Start a Whatsapp thread including a group of your good friends and start planning a night out or a night-in! New Activities To Do With Your Girlfriends

7. Buy New Shoes or Dress

One cannot deny the power of retail therapy and the relief that a new frock can give you. Whether or not you’re going to use it, shopping for new clothes give you the feeling of being a new person. 10 Helpful Tips When Shopping for New Clothes

8. Avoid Stalking on Facebook

Facebook can be a little fun when you’re trying to find out who that new woman is on your ex-boyfriend’s Facebook, but put a lid on it and back away from Facebook when you’re depressed. It’s good to not know some things and when you realize someone’s having a better time than you are, it only feeds the negativity. Take a walk or read a book instead. Unfriending Someone on Facebook Has Real-Life Consequences; Over-Sharing Photos on Facebook Makes You A Weirdo?

9. Play With Make-up and Take Selfies

Whether you’re bad with an eyeshadow palette or you want to know what you’ll look like with a Marilyn Monroe mole, just do it. Whenever we’re having a rough day, it’s nice to change something about yourself even if it’s just for an hour. Whether it’s the worst or the best make-up you have on, take a few shots of yourself and just laugh! It’s even better when the make-up is bad and you have nothing but a big smile on your face.
