Birth Control Can Make You Think ‘Unattractive’ Guys Are Hot

Did you meet your partner while taking hormonal birth control? Well, maybe you should know this.

New research from Florida State University attests that birth control may level the genetic playing field for men.

Women married to men of less-than-average facial looks who took hormonal birth control at the beginning of their relationships found their husbands to be less attractive after stopping its usage.

Besides that, women with attractive husbands were way more satisfied after stopping the use of birth control.

Published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, the two studies followed the early stages of marriage for 118 couples. An impartial group of observers who have been trained in measuring physical attractiveness rated each man’s looks.

The wives were asked to rate their level of satisfaction every six months, as well as document their use of birth control.

We do believe that tampering with hormones can cause weight gain and mood swings, but it seems like it’s also blinding women’s ability to choose a partner in terms of looks.

Whatever it is, there are limitations to the studies. Hormone intake was self-reported, and only a small number of couples participated.

So, your prince charming may not be a toad after all.
