Meet Ampy, a pocket-sized device that was invented by students at Northwestern University. It uses energy that’s generated from physical activity like walking or running to charge a mobile phone. It’s strapped to the body and the magnet within a coil in the device helps convert kinetic energy into electricity. It’s half the size of most cellphones and pretty simple to use. Plug it in and charge!
“The more you move, the more power you get.,” said Chief Product Officer Alex Smith. For example, cycling or jogging for an hour will get you three additional hours worth of battery time!
