All women worry, and one of the things that they worry about is any issue that involves their vagina and to be honest, we have every right to because a lot can go wrong ‘down there’.
From odours and itches to suspicious bumps, we help you clear up some of the weirdest vaginal issues you may have. Here’s how you can deal with some of the most common worries of the female genitalia:
Numbness down below – Most women experience this if they are frequent bikers or take indoor cycling classes. You might want to invest in a comfortable and padded seat to avoid pain in the nether region.
You’re dry like the desert – Vaginal dryness is not only for older women ya’ know? In fact dryness can be caused during post-pregnancies or when taking a particular type of medication. If you’re feeling dryer than a desert, you might want to opt for some lubricant. Go see a doctor if this problem persists.
You experience deep pain – Deep vaginal pain, especially so when you’re experiencing it during intercourse could be a sign of endometriosis or an ovarian cyst. This is something you should not keep to yourself and make an appointment with your doctor straight away. From a pelvic exam or an ultrasound, your doctor should be able to look for the cause.
Why does it hurt – Any vaginal or vulva pain is usually a sign of an infection or STD, so the wise thing to do is to pay your doctor a visit, especially if the pain carries on for more than a couple of days. If you’re feeling the ache after sex then it might be because you were dry. If lube doesn’t help then definitely see a doctor.
Discharge – Having a vagina means that sometimes we do get the occasional discharge but if the consistency, colour, and odour seems fishy, you might want to take it up with your doctor.
The itchy and scratchy show – If the itch reoccurs and is accompanied by some discharge then there is a great possibility that you have a yeast infection or something bacterial-related. Sometimes itching could also be caused by your skin’s reaction to soap, feminine wash or even laundry detergent.
