A healthcare solutions provider, A. Menarini Malaysia, launches its new campaign, Be Brave, to address the topic of premature ejaculation (PE). Even though up to one in three men in Asia Pacific suffer from PE, the condition is accompanied by heavy stigma and many men lack understanding of the condition. This hinders the individual from visiting a healthcare professional to manage PE.
On the other hand, up to 40% of women do not discuss about PE as they are afraid of hurting their partner’s feelings. Ironically, 62% of men said that they would likely visit the doctor if their partner advises them to seek help. Addressing these findings, Be Brave is designed to interact with consumers through digital and hands-on initiatives that will spark conversation among Malaysian couples.
During the launch, Professor Dr. Zulkifli Md Zainuddin, Senior Consultant Urologist and Head of Urology Unit, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre demystified the topic, touched on treatments available to manage PE and also breaking down taboos. This was followed by an interactive session by Dr George Lee, Consultant Urological Surgeon at Gleneagles Hospital, who described the nuances between men and women on how they approach the topic and explained how women can encourage their partner to take action.
Be Brave will be reaching out to the public through the online sphere. Visitors will be able to discover their inner hero through a fun quiz and subsequently be motivated to take the first step in seeking for more information and ultimately, to speak to their physicians. Be Brave will also be engaging Malaysians via action-packed on-ground activities and visual announcements at popular public areas, to further spread awareness and educate couples experiencing PE.
