Harry Styles definitely has a very interesting and not to mention, expensive, taste in art.
The One Direction singer spent $33,000 on original art pieces by artist Hayden Kays, whose work is both sexual and provocative. The 20-year-old singer however, didn’t purchase artwork featuring any naked bodies or people in the act. Instead, he purchased artwork that were merely suggestive (and kind of ridiculous).
“Harry bought 20 pieces of artwork by Hayden Kays. He purchased them last week,” a source told E! News. “They are original works and they are all unique. They are not prints. They are all done on the same typewriter. Each piece is hand-typed and produced.”
“Each of the artworks cost 1,000 pounds or about $1,400 to $1,500,” the source added. “The artworks show a level of sentiment and love and affection. They are social commentary and involve mind games. They have a theme of love and sex.”
The pieces purchased by Harry were part of the Hot 100 exhibit at Cob Gallery in Camden, London and were part of Hayden’s last typewriter series. According to the source, “Hayden has produced typewriter pieces of art for the past several years and the ‘Hot 100′ exhibition is the last of those works. He is not making them anymore and I’m sure that is why Harry snapped them up.”
No stranger to Hayden Kays’ works, this isn’t the first time Harry has purchased his pieces. “Harry has purchased other artworks in the past. I think three or four,” the source said. “He has aligned himself with Hayden, who is quite controversial in the U.K. because he questions and prods the establishment.”
“Harry and Hayden have a creative understanding and admire each other’s creativity.”
What do you think of Harry’s purchases? We think they’re a joke.
