When you’re excessively unhappy with your job, one of the many things you can do is to quit. But leaving her job without leaving a mark was not part of Marina Shifrin’s plan.
Shifrin boldly made the leap from an overworked disgruntled employee to a free woman who quit her job in style; all in a 1-minute-45-second video on YouTube.
Shiftin was an employee at Next Media Animation, a company that produces Taiwanese reenactment videos. After devoting two years and sacrificing her life for the job, Shiftin got annoyed and did what she wanted to do – quit.
And she does this without screaming, causing a scene or a public meltdown. Instead, she did it one beautiful video that speaks to everyone, with the help of Kanye West’s “Gone”.
The video shows a Shifrin – at work at 4.30am – dancing in a recording room, the main office space, and then making her grand exit as she switches the lights off.
The Daily Dot highlighted that Shifrin’s video has to be the “most meta representation of our modern media news cycle”, since Shifrin quit her job producing viral videos through a viral video.
Albeit the video may be a creative, metaphorical middle-finger in the face of her [former] employer, do you think it’s a wise move? Let it be known that the video has already garnered 4 million viewers since its upload on 28 September.
