TIME magazine has just named its new managing editor, who is also the first female to assume the position – Nancy Gibbs!
Gibbs has already been with TIME’s for 28 years and has been the deputy managing editor since 2011. She is also a best-selling author and commentator on politics and values in the United States.
The 53-year-old will be TIME’s 17th managing director since its founding in 1923, and has a portfolio that sure to impress. With over 174 cover stories – more than any writer in TIME’s history, Gibbs is a chameleon that can touch on a range of subjects from politics to parenting.
Gibbs’ position was announced by Time Inc. editor-in-chief, Martha Nelson. She praised Gibbs, saying: I knew that Nancy was the perfect person to lead this brand, and I know she has the right staff behind her.”
