Everyone’s got a pair of ballet flats. They’re functional, comfortable, and if we could – we’d stuff them into our clutch when we’re going out for drinks with the girlfriends. Sadly a pair of ballet flats do not last forever. Even if it’s long lasting, you’re bound to see some wear and tear, and worst of all – the color starts to fade.
That’s what we experienced with a pair of smoking slippers that’s just too comfortable and adorable to toss. We’ve had a number of embellishment projects – from sunglasses to blouses, so let’s bring the embellishment party down to footwear!
Before you get started, here’s what you need:
· Sequins and rhinestones
· Craft/fabric glue
· A pair of old pumps
1. Lay your shoes out on a piece on a piece of old fabric, and arrange your sequins and rhinestones out to strategize a design.
2. Grab some big rhinestones and glue about 4 or 5 of them out on your shoe.
3. Then, improvise with the rest of the sequins and rhinestones you have. We decided to go with the flow and now we have a pair of glammed up smoking slippers!
4. Once you’ve completed, don’t forget to clean up the glue stains! You can use a Q-tip dipped in nail polish remover to get rid of it!
After the clean-up, we’ve successfully turned a pair of old black flats into blinged-out footwear – and not to mention custom-made!
