Do you start feeling anxious if you don’t check your Facebook, Twitter, your blogs or other social media outlets? We’ve all become dependent on social media to keep up with the latest stories that’s not up on the mainstream media outlets but it looks like we may end up feeling less connected with the world if we give it a break.
Much like a fitness diet, it’s a good idea to give yourself a good balance of social media exposure. Here are tips to help you create a balanced diet of status-updates and picture posts.

Think About it First
When we mean to think about it, we really mean to think about the bigger question, “Why do it”.
It’s quite philosophical, but a good technique to help cut your time off social media to a point that it’s healthy is to get to the root to the problem. Is it because you’re just bored? Maybe you’re stalking this guy who you’re totally keen on asking out. Once you realize just how silly your excuses are, this might help you think of a way to take a break.

Prioritize Your Diet
What’s more important to you? Your blog? Facebook? Twitter? Your “Style Inspo” folder on Pinterest? Instead of hopping about from one outlet to another, work on one thing at a time. Facebook can be addictive, and so can Pinterest, but Facebook keeps you connected to the world. So, stand your ground, like some statuses now and Re-pin those dresses tomorrow.

Avoid Too Many Beauty and Fashion Blogs
You may think this is  a joke, but this carries more impact on your body image issues like no other. Have you ever noticed that when you keep your eyes away from fashion magazines, you tend to feel more “at peace” or “content” with yourself? Perhaps you’ve never notice it, but maybe you’ve muttered the words “I wish I have that right now” at the sight of the latest lipstick or the slender thighs of the Miranda Kerr. Well, the truth is, fashion and beauty blogs may be entertaining, but it can also  damage  your self-esteem without you even knowing it. So, if you’re always looking around for the latest fashion and beauty tips on a daily basis, stay away and you’ll probably feel a lot better about yourself.

Limit Your Facebook Status Updates
This might be hard for some people who update their status at least 3 times a day (or more). But keeping your Facebook status updates to the barest minimum of all minimums will do you some good. It may drive you away from checking your Facebook feed, which will eventually tell your mind to go do something healthier, like work on your actual diet.

Curb the Urge to Show Off
If there’s one thing we know about Facebook, people tend to post mundane things that are honestly very dull but because we’re so enclosed in our own space, we find it to be truly interesting. It’s so sad, but so true. So, go dark on Facebook and check it once a week (it’s hard but you can do it) and go make the best experiences out of your life!
