10 bus passengers from Singapore successfully escaped death when their express bus crashed along the North-South Expressway. The incident took place around 2am on Wednesday morning, 500m away from Pagoh R&R area while the bus was heading to Penang.
Mohd Rusdi Ahmad, 28, claimed the vehicle suddenly went out of control and crashed into the road divider landing of its side. He and his colleague were thrown out of the vehicle but landed safely. Both of them then quickly ran back and rescue the passengers.
“We quickly went back to the wreckage to rescue the passengers. We were afraid the bus might catch fire. It was chaotic. An old woman even fainted. We managed to bring everyone out from the bus via the roof,” he said.
The passengers, aged between 20 and 50, were injured including the two bus drivers.
Police has confirmed the case and will investigate the incident under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
