Having good metabolism is a good way to start losing your fat, but everyone has different levels of metabolism. Metabolism is the process of breaking down nutrients from foods like protein, carbohydrates and fats to yield the energy your body requires in order to maintain itself.  But how can you increase your metabolism? Genetics has a little something to do with your metabolism rate, but the best way to boost your metabolism is to increase your body’s energy level.

Here are some simple ways to rev up your metabolism for a fitter and healthier you.

Always eat breakfast: Eating breakfast wake you and your metabolism up, kick-strating it for the day.

Stay hydrated: Your body needs water to process calories, so keeping hydrated will keep the cycle in kick. Also, if the water is cold it could boost your metabolism even further as your body has to work harder to keep at its natural temperature. So drink plenty of ice water throughout the day!

Green tea: Green tea contains caffeine which increases the amount of energy your body uses, this should rev up your metabolism for a few hours. Research has shown that consuming two to four mugs a day can push your body to burn 17% more calories.

Eat more often but smaller meals: Eating often will mean not giving your metabolism a chance to break, keeping it constantly flowing. You will also stay full and therefore will not crave fatty foods as a pick-me-up. Try preparing healthy snacks such as carrot or celery sticks or carry around nutrition bars with you.

Consume more protein: Your body burns more calories digesting proteins into your system than it does with carbohydrates or fat. This is because your body digests protein slower, this will also leaving you full for longer and hopefully result in eating less due to the fact.

Omega 3s: Omega-3 fatty acids help to regulate your metabolism as they keep blood sugar balanced and reduce inflammation. They also reduce resistance to a hormone called leptin which is linked to the speed at which fat is burned.

Cut down on trans fats: Trans fats slow down your body’s ability to burn fat, it binds to fat and liver cells and slows down your metabolic rate.

Add spice to your meals: Foods with a bit of kick to them contain chemical compounds that can boost metabolism. The effect is temporary however if you are to use the trick often, results could add up.
