Most men don’t go shopping. They tend to wear the same outfit every day unlike us women – we know what we’re after, and we venture just deep enough into the retail jungle and take just what we want to look good. If you want your boyfriend or husband to improve his wardrobe, you’ll have to make it easy for him and with the right technique, he’ll grow right into his more mature look.
1. Be a Giver
Start small and be very subtle. Get him a gift of something you think would definitely make him look good. Though, keep in mind what his sense of style is, or else he’ll downright refuse to wear anything that’s beyond his comfort zone.
2. Stay Positive
A little psychology and positive reinforcement will help give your man a style upgrade. Never make it about him looking bad in the clothes he wears. Instead, tell him how hot he looks when he’s in something you like.
3. Get the Right Fit
The biggest problem with modern guys’ style is fit. Some cuts fit way too big or too small. Jeans are usually hemmed too short and they’re too wide in the leg. Pants usually make the biggest difference, so invest in some time by getting him to try a couple different cuts of pants. A slim bootleg will generally flatter no matter the size.
4. Suit Up
If you really want to invest in his appearance, suggest that he wears a suit for a formal occasion. Inviting him to a big family wedding? Offer to split the cost with him and go with to the fittings to make sure it’s tailored to fit formally, and not too loose.
5. Make it a Day Date
Take the pressure out of him having to go shopping and make it a little date. Make it fun, easy-going, and only go to two to three stores. You can always offer a reward in the bedroom if you catch our drift!
6. Get Your Girlfriends in On It
Don’t bad-mouth your man behind his back, but if your pals know his style’s lacking, get them to compliment his new look. Once he starts getting a positive response from people, it becomes addictive.
7. Add a Splash of Colour
Does your man keep his wardrobe organized in very bland colors like grays, navy and black? Inject a little color in his wardrobe by getting him a simple colored-sweater that can go over any shirt. Then ramp it up with button-ups and ties.
