10 Must-See Destinations in Asia

Asia is a beautiful continent filled with mystery and culture, presented with a variety of sides like adventure, mysticism, and  nature. As the largest continents in world, Asia is home to at least 60% if the world’s population, and that’s obviously the reason why Asia has so much to offer. From breathtaking views of volcanos to glitzy skyscrapers, these are the top then Asian destinations you cannot miss!

1. Angkor Wat, Cambodia

The Angkor Wat is the largest Hindu temple complex dating back to the 12th century. It was built as dedication to the Hindu god, Vishnu and it is the only best-preserved temple to have remained a significant religious centre since its foundation – first Hindu, then Buddhist.

2. Hong Kong

As one of the top Southeast Asian destinations, Hong Kong is they key tourism hub of China, with a plethora of attractions to offer, from amazing theme parks, beautiful city skyline from Victoria Peak and more. Hong Kong is also the best place to indulge in steaming hot dim sum and dumplings.

3. Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

One of the many cosmopolitan sites in Asia, Kuala Lumpur is a thriving hub of modern architecture built in contrast of the old. The city is a prime budget eating spot, with a variety of cuisines like Malay, Chinese, Indian and more. Being a multi-cultural country, a year in Kuala Lumpur is never dull as you can indulge in a variety of celebrations all year round.

4. Beijing, China

Who could resist a step in the oriental province filled with stories from its ancient times? You’ll never find anything else in the world as stunning as The Summer Palace and the Forbidden City, like you would in China. Perfect for the adventurous spirit, or even a little vacation for the family, you can’t resist stepping into China without seeing the Great Wall of China.

5. Boracay, Philippines

Just over 300 km south of Manila, lies the beautiful island, Boracay. Just only 4.5 miles, this tiny island is big in selection with several amazing beaches to choose from. If you’re looking for something quiet and secluded, head to Balinghai Beach; or for picture-perfect sunsets, White Beach is the place to be.

6. Goa, India

As one of India’s smallest states, Goa has a lot to offer. A former Portuguese colony, Goa is renowned for its rich flora and fauna, beaches, places of worship and is even named a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Check out the some of the old Bom Jesus Basilica which holds the remains of St Francis of Xavier. For the party animal at heart, don’t miss out on some of Goa’s famous trance parties.

7. Taj Mahal, India

The Taj Mahal is the most iconic image of India and is one of the most amazing wonders of the world. Built as a mausoleum by the Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his wife, the Taj Mahal attracts over 2 millions visitors a year.

8. Chiang Mai, Thailand

Chiang Mai is a gradually modernizing city attracting over 5 million visitors each year. Explore Chiang Mai by doing things the way the locals do, dine on their scrumptious street food, visit elephant camps to give them a bath, or even take up a cooking class.

 

9. Kyoto, Japan

One, the imperial capital of Japan, the city of Kyoto is one of the best preserved historical cities in Japan, with over 1600 Buddhist temples and 400 Shinto shrines. Visit some of the beautiful gardens and hike the Fushimi Inari Shrine, and be mind-blown by the breathtaking beauty Japan has to offer.

10. Lake Toba, Indonesia

Lake Toba is one of the majestic sights of nature in Asia that one cannot miss. It is the site of a super volcanic eruption thousands of years ago. Visit the beautiful traditional Batak houses with their unique distinctive roofs and chill out at the hot springs of the looming giant lake.
