How to Date Yourself

One of the most important advice out there is “love yourself before anyone else loves you”. You may think that it’s just a joke, but the truth is you may end up sabotaging all the relationships you have out there, including your friends. You may be surprised to know that the most important relationship you’ll ever have is with yourself, so here are some ways for you to love yourself before you get out there and start dating someone else.

Pamper Yourself
No one could ever pass-off the idea of a little time to themselves, and you should feel the same too. The main key to relaxation is go solo, so draw a bath, light some candles, bring your favorite bottle of wine and simply kick-back and relax. Relish in your favorite guilty pleasures, and do whatever you like to recharge your batteries!

Exercise
Getting fit and healthy is a sign of self-love. If you’re not one for the gym, take your dog out to the park and get fit. Participate in a Yoga class to help you de-stress during the week. Just think of each workout session as a hot date, and that should motivate your enough to do something special for yourself. After all, exercise does boost your confidence. Here’s how.

Learn Something New
Whether you are single or in a relationship, it shouldn’t stop you from exploring things that you’re curious about. A lot of us complain that we’re not so keen on going to the cinema to watch that new art-house flick alone, and by the time the clock strikes ‘movie-time’, you hesitate and bail out on your movie. Instead, don’t bother asking people out to join you. Let them ask you instead. As soon as they take interest in what you’re doing, you might just feel a little boost in your self-esteem.

Cut Yourself Some Slack
It’s important to know that no one’s perfect. Your happy-go-lucky socialite friend may seem to have it all, but believe it or not, she may have some problems of her own and it quite good at masking them. People can be put off by the constant complaints about how you don’t like yourself, and you would probably feel the same way too if you had to go out with someone who did the same.
Treat yourself the way you others to treat you, so stop saying negative things about yourself.
