COVID-19 infections are on the boom across much of the United States, mainly to the virus’s highly virulent Delta variant.
The Emmy Awards will be hosted at L.A. Live, a year after they were held virtually during the COVID-19 outbreak.
The noble award ceremony will not be held at its yearly venue, Microsoft Theater, Los Angeles, California due to the alarming rise in COVID-19 cases in the country as of recently!
The news comes shortly after the Academy declared that the number of people allowed on the red carpet will be very minimal due to a surplus of caution caused by the increase in COVID cases, it aims to protect the Emmy nominees, guests and media.
The Television Academy released a statement saying that it will hold its ceremony at L.A. Live’s Event Deck, right behind the Microsoft Theater, in an “indoor/outdoor” setting. According to the organisation, the building will allow for more “socially distanced audience seating.”
Concerning the relocated venue, the Academy warned that despite having already sent out invites, it will cap the number of attendees for safety measures!
Regrettably, this implies that not all of the nominees will be able to attend the awards ceremony this year. Prior to RSVPing, they urge that nominated teams communicate with one another and plan how they will distribute their four tickets. The nominees’ health and safety are of utmost priority.
The Television Academy thanks everyone for their understanding as they navigate through the COVID-19 delta variation.
