1. Avoid long hot showers
Avoid long hot baths and switch to shorter baths with cooler water. Or end with cold water if you prefer warm showers. Hot showers strips off protective oils, leaving your skin dry and vulnerable to damage.
2. Exfoliate your skin
When you don’t exfoliate, dead skin cells accumulates, making your face look patchy and dry. Exfoliating removes dead skin cells and allows regeneration of new cells. You may make your own exfoliators in the comfort of your home by using a facial brush or homemade ground particles. Be sure to be gentle on your skin during this process, as harshness can further damage your skin. You may try chemical exfoliators if you want to get your hands on exfoliating the conventional way. Be sure to only use products that contain AHAs and BHAs (alpha and beta hydroxy acids). AHAs do not penetrate deep into your skin and are mild, making them perfect for beginners. BHAs exfoliate the skin surface and cleanse your pores. AHAs and BHAs are also found in serums, toners, masks, and other products. If you are new to skin acids, it is better to proceed with caution. Do not over exfoliate as it could damage your skin.
