No one trudges out of bed looking like a million bucks – It’s just the way it is. And despite all the time and hard work you put into taking care of your skin, it’s highly likely that you still have yet to achieve that enviable inner glow. That’s what makeup is there for, right?
No one knows better than celebrity makeup artist Patrick Ta when it comes to faking expensive-looking skin, which he explains as, “Skin that is luminous; skin that is fresh, glowy, and looks young.” Luckily, he extended some very practical techniques so we can all do it at home.
To look more awake in the mornings when you can barely get out of bed, he says, “I like to put highlight in the inner corner of the eyes, the high points of the cheekbones, the peak of the forehead, down the bridge of the nose, and on the Cupid’s bow. I put it right on top of the blush.”
As for the correct way to apply blush, he divulges, “I don’t like to go too far in [towards the nose] with blush, because if you go too far into the front of your cheeks, it makes your cheeks look rounder. Put the blush where you would apply the contour, but just a little bit higher. It brings a little life and color to the face.”
Unfortunately, there is such a thing has having too much shine, so he suggests being strategic with the makeup you apply, “The areas I put powder on are the peak of the forehead, a little under the eyes, the smile lines, and the chin. Leave the rest of the face nice and natural and dewy.”
You evidently have to seal all your products in, so he suggests using setting spray around the perimeter of the face, “It further accentuates that glow. It basically melts any product that is on that area, [so] your skin becomes one instead of just product going on top of your skin.”
Finally, simply keep a powder in your purse to combat that midday shine, “When you have more of that natural oil or glow, when the light hits, it further accentuates everything and it looks like the shine is coming from within the skin, rather than laying on top of it.” Inner glow, we’re coming for you!
