You can always fool a novice with ostentatious innovations, but only seasoned runners who have treaded unbelievable distances through discomfort, pain and even injuries would be capable of pinpointing exactly their requirements when it comes to their dream match (shoes).

Every stride taken culminates with demands and amongst them are more cushion from the impact, energy return to defy weariness mid-run, ultra-lightweight underfoot pressure and enhanced durability to weather through it all. While it is nearly impossible to hone in on all these attributes, Nike managed to deliver with its unorthodox foam called Nike React.

Launched in June 2017 via Nike’s React Hyperdunk 2017 Flyknit and Jordan Super.Fly 2017 as a result, this solution – Nike React – comprises of a unique composition that gives off a sensation that is as soft and springy as it is bouncy and solid. It is also durable and offered greater energy return unlike anything else.

It was only a natural progression for Nike to extend this breakthrough to its lineup of running shoes and its latest Nike Epic React Flyknit faultlessly showcases the full potential of Nike React. The one-piece Nike Flyknit bootie that makes the shoe’s upper wraps around the foot to provide support, flexibility and breathability, but it doesn’t stop there.

To avoid the Nike React foam from “bottoming-out” due to its softer texture, the midsole is extended at the heel beyond the upper to offer boosted cushioning and stability. Computational design then developed the midsole, which highlights the specific spots that require supplementary cushioning and support during any run.

Finally, the visually sophisticated pattern features varied depth for extra cushioning and firmness where needed, and as the upper sits on a single piece of Nike React foam, rubber is inserted under the forefoot and heel for magnified traction and elevated durability.

Nike Epic React Flyknit drops February 22 2018 on nike.com and at select retailers.
