Carving Station - Slow Roasted Bone in Lamb Leg and Roasted Turkey with Dried Fruit Stuffing

With Christmas around the corner, some of us have already started with a hankering for an indulgent roast dinner – and gifts. If you’re anything like me and don’t really have the patience to wait 4 hours for a turkey to roast, you’re forever welcome to jump on the hotel buffet bandwagon with me for a Merry Christmas. Which is why when Four Points by Sheraton Puchong invited the media to review their Christmas & New Year Buffet at The Eatery, I had no qualms in saying yes.

Located at the ground floor of Four Points by Sheraton in Puchong, The Eatery offers a comfy and warm ambience and a delectable selection of sustenance for diners. And as ’tis the season to be jolly,  Four Points by Sheraton Puchong extends the same comfort and warmth by bringing on the festive joy and an extensive holiday feast.

Upon reaching our table, we were served the traditional Christmas beverage, Eggnog – a rich, sweetened dairy-based beverage traditionally made with milk or cream, sugar and whipped eggs. Personally, I’ve never had Eggnog before so the thought of drinking whipped eggs were a little daunting until I had a taste. Frothy, creamy and sweet, I downed this in less than 5 minutes.

The appetiser and salad bar was filled to the brim with over 10 different selections that included Prawn Cocktail with Pomelo Salad, Smoked Turkey Breast with Cranberry Jam and Pickles (you know, X-mas style), and even Cured Salmon with Arugula, Quail Eggs and Pink Peppercorn Cream. A cheeseboard complete with crackers, vegetable crudites and condiments is also available, should you want a little wine and cheese action before or after dinner.

There’s also a gourmet crustacean bar where you’d find a selection of fresh shellfish like U.S. Oysters, Flower Crab, Half Shell Scallops and more. You can either have the chef at the Wok station cook up a mean Singaporean or Black Pepper sauce Crab or you could go HAM like I did with the raw stuff and drizzle on a little cocktail sauce or mignonette.

Besides the crustaceans, there are various hot mains you could go after. There’s a live pasta station where you can have your pasta cooked in Smoked Salmon Carbonara or Chicken Meatball Bolognaise as well as a grill station with the usual seafood and meats fare.

The hot dishes are a mix between the festive menu and some local selections. This station will have you salivating at the sight of its many hot pots with Grilled Prawn Ragout, Duck Confit and Parmesan-whipped potatoes (so sinful but so good!) alongside local dishes like Wok Fried Venison, Salted Fish Fried Rice and more!

Of course, with it being the festive season and all, what’s a Christmas/New Year’s buffet without a carving station, right? You’d be pleased to know that both Roast Turkey and Bone-in Leg of Lamb are available at the buffet. The Roast Turkey is served traditionally with dried fruit stuffing, giblet gravy and orange compote and was easily the star of the show.

Carving Station - Slow Roasted Bone in Lamb Leg with Mint Aioli, Dijon Mustard, Rosemary Jus and Sweet PotatoesFor those who have yet to acquire the taste of turkey, the roast leg of lamb was equally as decadent and juicy with sweet potatoes and a selection of sauces from mint aioli to rosemary jus.

Finish off your dinner on a sweet note with the stunning Hot Croissant Pudding with vanilla cream, Cherry Creme Brulee or even a slice of Dresdner Stollen – a fruit bread covered in powdered sugar. Alternatively, head on over to the waffle or teppanyaki ice cream station. Pick from a selection of toppings ranging from whipped cream, berry compote, nuts, fruits and sauces to seal the deal.

With such a broad and extensive selection of food at the buffet, I reckon that RM138 nett per person is definitely worth the bill. Quality isn’t compromised for quantity either – everything is freshly made in-house and the freshness of produced sourced for The Eatery is well translated in dishes served.

If you’re planning on visiting The Eatery in Four Points by Sheraton Puchong this Christmas, be sure to make a reservation for either Christmas Eve dinner (24 December 2016)  at RM138 nett per adult and RM69 nett per child or Christmas Lunch (25 December 2016) at RM112 nett per adult and RM56 nett per child. Alternatively, you can try out the buffet during New Year’s Eve dinner (31 December 2016) at RM138 nett per person or New Year’s Day lunch (1 January 2017) at RM112 nett per person.
