Halloween’s this Sunday and the pressure to figure out what to wear is ON.
With costume rental outlets conveniently running out of affordable options as the last week of October kicks in, we totally get the need for cheap and creative last minute costumes (here’s looking at you, procrastinators). Which is why we took the liberty of jotting down a couple of ideas for you before you start frantically searching for that “mouse” costume at the bottom of your closet.
1. That PPAP dude

Piko Taro of the viral YouTube video Pen Pineapple Apple Pen is arguably one of the biggest (and annoying) viral dance video to have been released, since Psy’s Gangnam Style. Besides being the talk of the night, this costume is super easy to put together. All you’d need is a pair of snake print pyjamas, leopard print scarf, white dress shoes, a drawn on (or stick-on) thin moustache, rectangular framed sunnies and a “gold” chain. Bonus points if you walk around with a pineapple, apple and a pen all night.
2. A Charred Samsung Galaxy Note 7

What better time to put your basic craft skills from kindergarten to good use rather than Halloween? Following the hype of combusting Samsung Galaxy Note 7s, we honestly think this would be a hilarious costume idea. Instead of attaching several recalled Samsung Galaxy Note 7 boxes on your shirt like this guy, make life easier by utilising some spray paint and cardboard and turn yourself into a life sized Samsung Galaxy Note 7 – complete with charred parts.
3. Daniel with the white Vans

Daniel, the notoriously fashionable teenage boy from California, became one of the first big memes of the year. The viral video gained over 40 million views in just a few days in February. Let Daniel be your Halloween inspiration and make people do double takes on your outfit while exclaiming “Damn!” Everything you need for this costume would probably already be staples in bae’s closet – a preppy-ish T-shirt, chambray or denim button down, a backpack and of course, you can’t be Daniel if you’re not “back at it again with the white Vans.”
4. Hodor from Game of Thrones
Season six of Game of Thrones had fans in tears over the loss of Hodor. To commemorate the life of Hodor, we figured that you GoT fans might want to “hold the door” this Halloween. All you’d need is a brown or grey robe, 3-4 brown belts or ropes to strap around your chest and stomach, grey hairspray or wig and a large brown backpack. Or you could strap on a box of all bran cereal and pretend that it’s Brandon Stark.
5. Real life Snapchat filters
Let’s be honest, sometimes we wish that the Snapchat filters we mess around with on the app are available in real time. Which is why we thought it would be really cool if you’d consider recreating one of the filters for Halloween this year. You won’t even need a specific outfit, just mad makeup skills and head gears. Checkout the baby deer filter makeup tutorial (alongside other famous filters) here.
Happy Halloween, ladies. Please make good choices.
